Workington Summer 5K Series Race 1

Welcome to race 1 in the Workington Summer 5K Series This is one of a 5K race series consisting of 4 x 5K races on the following dates: Wednesday 22 May Wednesday 12 June Wednesday 24 July Wednesday 21 August Course Out and back route starting and ending at the Workington AFC Ground. The race starts on the path outside Borough Park and runs down Black Path towards the Cricket Ground. Runners will then be directed to turn sharp right up a short climb to join the cycle path. The course crosses Navvies Bridge and continues straight up the cycle path towards Seaton until reaching the turn-around which is reached just before the pylons. Runners will return along the same course until reaching Borough Park when they will be directed into the football stadium and will run around the grounds to the finish. This is an officially measured and certified accurate course by the Association of UK Course Measurers. Race numbers & race day information Race numbers will be issued at race registration. Registration 5:45pm – 6:45pm Registration will take place within the football stadium. Risk Assessment A full course risk assessment will be on display at the event HQ on race day together with maps of the route, the race permit and the measurement certificate in accordance with UKA rules (Permit No TBA). Race safety briefing The race briefing will take place at 6:55pm, prior to the start of the race. 1st aid provision will be provided by Steve Wilson, 1st Aid Associates. There will be a lead bike and sweeper runner. Prizes Individual races: Prizes will be awarded after each race to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female finishers. Race Series: Points will be allocated to all runners and prizes will be presented at the end of the series to overall finishers in 5 year veteran age categories. Runners need to complete 3 out of the 4 races to qualify for overall prizes. Results By Timing Up North using chip timing
