Newlands Memorial Fell Race
Cumberland Fell Runners are happy to once again organise the Newlands Valley Fell Races.
The 2 route changes from last year will be in place again. Please follow them to help our Landowners. It is the descent from Robinson and the descent from Catbells. Further information to follow. We want you all to enjoy the event, but safety must be the priority. This is an adventurous sport and this is an extremely exposed route early in the season. If the weather is extreme alterations may be made to the route and tighter cut-offs may be imposed. It is still the responsibility of the competitor to decide whether they have the skills to navigate the course successfully and safely in the conditions with no support. You need to determine what extra kit you may need, bearing in mind it can take hours to locate and to rescue an immobile runner. Kit checks will be done at the start, during the race or at the finish: Full Fell Runners Association minimum (FRA) kit is to be carried and you are expected to follow FRA “Runners Rules” . Not to carry kit or follows rules must result in disqualification for the safety of everyone. - Please visit www.https://fellrunner.org.uk/ for more information Further detail about the race is at the Club’s website - Click on the link in the organiser information section for the Cumberland Fell Runners Website. Last minute changes and conversation is on our Facebook Page here - https://www.facebook.com/NewlandsValleyFellRaces/ You enter the race, you put yourself on the start line, you decide to run. You must share the risk that is unavoidable in this sport. The Race Organising Team will do their bit. Parking - There is £5 parking charge at the event. Please do not park in the lanes nearby. We rely on the cooperation of the local community to run this event. Bike parking is available and, as ever, car sharing is encouraged.
