The Flatcap 5 is an annual 5 mile trail race to celebrate Yorkshire Day with free pie 'n peas - Bring Your Flat Caps !
The course is multi terrain, slightly undulating, finishing at the picturesque Leggers Inn pub and canal boat yard close to Dewsbury town centre. The route takes in the Dewsbury-Ossett greenway, off road paths and the canal towpath. All race proceeds are donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Don't forget to bring your FLAT CAP to wear during the race; whilst this is not compulsory it is encouraged to fit in with the spirit of the race and help us celebrate Yorkshire Day on August 1st. There is a prize for the Best Flat Cap judged by our team so please feel free to add whatever accessories to your headgear to make you a WINNER. There will also be other prizes for the M/F winners, places, age group categories and M/F 1,2,3 team prizes; note to qualify for a team prize all team members must finish the race wearing their flat caps. Unfortunately dogs cannot run in the race. Wearing of earphones will not be permitted, participants must be able to hear instructions from marshals throughout the event.

Event Disclaimer: The Race is organised by Dewsbury Road Runners under UKA laws. Each entrant accepts that the organisers of the Flat Cap 5 will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses which may arise in consequence of their participation in this event. Participants must not compete in the race if they are not in good health and will compete at their own risk. Participants agree to have personal details stored on computer for entry processing. We regret that all entry fees are non-refundable and may not be deferred towards a future event. In the unlikely event of abandonment or cancellation, all or part of my entry fee may be retained for the management and administration of the event. We will allow competitors to transfer their entry in case that they can no longer compete. To transfer their entry runners must contact the race organiser by email. Transfers will be at the Race Organisers discretion. No transfer requests can be made after 12.0 noon on Sat 29th July 2017 Dewsbury Road Runners and / or the race director retain the right to refuse entry to anyone. Participants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line. The Flat Cap 5 is a trail race run under UK Athletics rules and is run over a challenging multi-terrain course. On race day participants must follow all instructions given from event officials, police, fire and ambulance operatives throughout the duration of the event. Failure to follow event rules/ event official’s instruction may result in disqualification, loss of prizes and removal from official results. Numbers for successful entrants may be collected at the venue before the start of the race. Race Numbers must be worn by all competitors. The course is unsuitable for prams or wheelchairs.
