York Santa Fun Run
YORK WILL HAVE FUN - FOR CHRISTMAS HAS BEGUN!
Every year York Rotary run many events, including the Dragon Boat Challenge, which raise tens of thousands of pounds for local charities. Unfortunately, due to Covid19 most of these events have not been able to take place. We have therefore decided to organise a Santa Fun Run and have invited British Heart Foundation and Wilberforce Trust to be equal co-recipients of any money raised as they too have been unable to organise their usual Santa Runs on The Knavesmire. This event is open to all ages and abilities with 3 different levels of races: 10K for serious runners, 5K for a shorter dash and 2 1/2K for the fun runners. You can use any means of propulsion you wish so you can run, skip, hop & jump, walk, pedal, pull, and push or swim, row, crawl and trampoline or, if gentler movement is required, use a pushchair, wheelchair or zimmer frame. "Best Dressed" prizes of Tea for Two at Middlethorpe Hall (Adult), , Family of 4 Voucher at Point Zero Trampoline Park (Child) and Doggy Hamper (Dog). Post your pics to #yorksantafunrun for us to judge. By doing this you will be giving us permission to use them for publicity purposes. You will be able to choose your own route which we ask you to choose with care both for the safety of yourself and that of others around you. You must also follow all Covid regulations applicable on the day of your run. We are not handing out costumes or medals so that we can claim Gift Aid from HMRC. However, by law, we are also not allowed to “charge” a fixed amount for entry so instead we invite you to make a “donation” on registering for this race. You can donate any amount you like (or, indeed, nothing at all) but we hope you would wish to support these worthy causes. If you are unsure of what would be a reasonable amount to donate you could maybe be guided by other events on this site who make a “charge” of anything from £10 - £20 per person (or £5 per child). You can, of course, donate more if you wish!
