"North East Club Event Of The Year 2019"

Set in the shadow of Tynemouth Priory on the beautiful North East coastline, Mouth of Tyne Aquathlon made its debut in 2019 and is now a regular in the North - East race calendar. The race involves a 1000m swim followed by a 5000m run. Participants will start their race on the beach at Tynemouth Haven and complete two 500m laps in the mouth of the River Tyne. At the end of lap one participants will leave the water in an Australian style exit, run a short way along the beach and then re-enter the water to complete their second lap. After finishing the swim, competitors make the short run to transition and start their 5k run by heading past the Collingwood Monument towards the River Tyne and then continuing towards North Shields Fish Quay. Runners will perform a u-turn and head back along the riverside promenade, past the race start, and along Tynemouth North Pier with the North Sea to either side. At the end of the pier participants will run around the beacon and head towards the finish line with the magnificent Tynemouth Priory staring down at them. This race is as challenging as it is picturesque. This race is highly likely to be wetsuit mandatory A small prize will be awarded to the first 3 finishers in each 10 year age group and also the juniors’ age group. There will be cash prizes for the first 3 finishers overall in both race categories. Entry fees: Up to and including March 31st 2024 - £27.00 After March 31st 2024 - £32 NON BTF must purchase a separate Race Pass at the extra cost of £8.00. These will be a female category, for people who are female sex at birth and an open category for all other individuals including transgender people. Entrants will be required to allocate the correct category upon entry.
