"North East Club Event Of The Year 2019"
Set in the shadow of the historic Tynemouth Priory the Mouth of the Tyne Aquathlon made its debut on the local multi-sport scene in August 2019. Such was the success of the event for both participants and spectators that it won Triathlon England North East Region’s Event of the Year and we are back for 2021. Participants will start on the beach at Tynemouth Haven and complete two 375m laps in the mouth of the Tyne. At the end of lap one participants will leave the water in an Australian style exit, run a short way along the beach and then re-enter the water to complete their second lap. After finishing the swim the participants will transition and start their 5k run by heading past the Collingwood Monument towards the River Tyne and along towards the redevelopments of North Shields Fish Quay. They will then return back along the riverside promenade, past the race start, and then run along the North Pier with the North Sea to either side. At the end of the pier participants will turn around and head towards the finish line with the magnificent Tynemouth Priory staring down at them. Prices £18 early bird entries within the first 30 days. £22 after 30 days until 31st March. £27 from 1st April until entry closing date. All unaffiliated entrants will have to pay for a day licence, currently £6. This race is as challenging as it is picturesque. NOTE: wetsuits will be compulsory.
