Coquet River Sprint Triathlon

The Coquet Triathlon & Aquabike will take place on Sunday 28th July 2024 The race starts at 8:00am with registration open from 7:00am. The swim distance is 750m and there will be up to 6 waves starting at 4 minute intervals with the first wave at 8.00am. The bike ride is a 20km out and back route. For those taking part in the triathlon there is then a 5km run to finish. The run will be a 2-lap course, on mixed terrain. There will be chip timing, finisher’s medals and trophies for the overall top 3 in the open and female categories. Tea, coffee and cake will be provided post race in the yacht club. There is limited parking at The Braid, please car share The swim is in the River Coquet which is tidal. Expect the temperature to be similar to the North Sea. Wet suits are very likely to be compulsory and if not, are strongly recommended. The bike leg is on public non-closed roads and the Highway Code takes precedence. In accordance with BTF rules, we will DQ participants guilty of 'breaking road traffic regulations' or 'dangerous conduct or riding'. There will be local guidance clarifying examples of actions that will attract a DQ and this will include: (1) crossing central white lines on a single carriageway road; (2) not signalling when turning right at a roundabout; (3) not being ready to brake when navigating road junctions and roundabouts. The run is on a mixture of grass, track and pavement. Depending on the weather conditions it may be slippy in places.
