A beautiful and scenic 12km run through North Tyneside.

The North Tyneside 12km is a fantastic trail run starting at the War Memorial in Whitley Bay and ending at the running track at Churchill Playing Fields. The run takes in the beautiful beach at Whitley Bay, the clifftops and coastal paths winding their way along to Seaton Sluice, through the trails and mud of Holywell Dene, along the Waggonways and ends with a lap of the running track at Churchill Fields. There are a couple of places you have a choice; at the end of the prom you can choose to drop onto the beach or choose to head up the steps onto the clifftop and of course the choice of up the first hill or the last hill in Holywell Dene, it doesn't matter which one you go for as either way its a hill and you gotta get to the top! Race HQ is at North Shields Poly clubhouse at Churchill Playing Fields where we also have toilets and changing facilities. The race start is a short 10 min stroll down to the seafront at the War Memorial at Spanish City and the race ends back at the Clubhouse where we will have hot and cold drinks and lots and lots of lovely cakes, scones, flapjacks, brownies and all manner of tasty delights! Numbers are to be collected on the day from the Race HQ which will be open from 8:30am This year, to keep within our ethos of an environmentally friendly event we will have some fantastic biodegradable medals supplied from earthruns.com. Every medal is made from 100% recycled paper and card, has a biodegradable plant-based tencel ribbon and is filled with wildflower seeds, so keep it as long as you want or plant it in the garden!
