M-Sport 5k

Join us in honouring the memory of Ted Southward, a remarkable boy described by his friends as ‘funny, kind, talented, fearless, and a legend.’ Ted was cherished by many in his community for his passion for racing, farming, and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. Tragically, on the 8th of April 2022, Ted was fatally hit by a car on his way home from his friend's house, while on his bike, at just 14 years old. In remembrance of Ted's joyful spirit, his family and former primary school seek to commemorate him with a special tribute—a slide at the school where he often revelled in laughter and fun. Ted's love for engines and racing led him to take part in work experience at M-Sport during his time at Millom School. Inspired by his dream placement, Ted aspired to secure an apprenticeship with M-Sport, an endeavour close to his heart. In honour of Ted's memory and his cherished connection to M-Sport, we invite you to participate in the M-Sport 5k, a running event set amidst the exhilarating atmosphere of M-Sport UK's state-of-the-art Test Track. Renowned for their championship-winning vehicles, like the Ford Fiesta WRC and the Puma Hybrid Rally1, M-Sport UK is once again opening its doors for a special cause, in remembering Ted. This summer, let us trade horsepower for people power, and the roar of engines for the rhythm of feet pounding the track. As you race towards your personal best, know that every step taken will contribute to building Ted's slide and honouring his legacy. Facilities: - Registration opens at 5.45.pm - 7pm (Race start 7.15pm). - Toilets will be on-site. - Water will be provided at the finish line. - A cake stall will be selling cakes on the evening for a discretionary donation to the charity. - Parking is available on site but please car share where possible as parking is limited. *Please respect the site, use the toilet facilities that will be clearly signposted & any rubbish to be placed in bins*
