Celebrate International Women's Day: the 5K for women by women!

Calling all women that run and those that would like to; on International Women's Day 2020, why not take part in this women only 5K race at the Brownlee Centre, Leeds. This is one race where women will be first, second and third! And everyone who takes part will get a medal. There will be also be age category prizes. The race will use the same measured circuit as the EvenSplits 5K race series, only on this occasion there will be just one race, just one sex running and just Lynn and her merry band of volunteers. The IWD 5K is being organised, timed and photographed by an entirely female team. In addition to the 5K race there will be a 1 lap fun run open for girls and women of all ages. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. The Brownlee cycle circuit is a completely safe and enclosed environment and we encourage all women to have a go at running this distance regardless of ability or experience. You can wear whatever you are comfortable running in. This is a non-profit event, where proceeds will go towards two charities close to any woman runner's heart. We all know the frustration of long toilet queues at running events, but imagine if queues were the least of your problems. The two chosen charities (The Gift Wellness Foundation and Forgotten Women) address the need for safe and secure toilets for women all around the world and to tackling Period Poverty in this country and abroad. Let's help to make access to toilets safe, secure and sanitary for all women and girls.
