Living Sport Peterborough Summer 10K & 5K
Back for the summer - and a choice of distance!
The Peterborough Summer 5K &10K is brought to you by Living Sport, a local sports charity, dedicated to improving health and wellbeing by supporting people to get active in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire through participation in sport and physical activity. After a year away (for you know what), the popular Peterborough Summer 10K is back with the addition of a 5K distance too. The race marks the return of Living Sport's Four Seasons series in partnership with Central England Co-operative. Each event takes place around Nene Park to show off every inch of the park's breath-taking lakes, woodland and meadows through Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. This 10k starts from close to the Visitor Centre. Runners will set off in an anti-clockwise direction around Overton Lake and Gunwade Lakes before joining at Lynch Farm Bridge and running alongside the Nene Valley Railway, crossing Ham Lane by Overton Station. Soon after coming away from the railway line and crossing Goldie Bridge to bring the runners alongside the meandering River Nene before crossing Ham Bridge and then Bluebell Bridge and heading along the lovely path through Bluebell Wood. Crossing the River Nene again at Milton Ferry Bridge before a loop round Gunwade Lake again in an anti-clockwise direction passing the Lakeside Centre and the final kilometre alongside Lynch Lake for a finish close to the start. All participants will receive a bespoke wooden medal and through our partnership with Trees Not Tees, the option to plant a tree. If you choose this option, we will pay Trees Not Tees to plant you a tree as part of their UK sustainable reforestation project. You can find out more at here (https://treesnottees.com/). (Tshirt option closed 22.06.2021) The 5K will start at 10:00am and the 10K at 10:15am. Routes for both 5K will be shared in due course.
