Newmachar 10k Makes a return
The Newmachar 10k is returning to all runners on Saturday 24/08/2024. The popular event returned in 2023 after a long absence, the route is mainly on road, and has a full road closure permit in place. The start and finish is in the football training ground adjacent to Newmachar Utd Charlie Gordons Park before running out onto the 10k route, once on the tar we take a left before running up Disblair hill, the first of two tricky hills. Once at the top of Disblair we then continue right down past Lairshill Cattery before coming to a T junction where we will continue on till we get to the next road T junction where Middleton hill, a short steep hill is the next tackle. Distance Marker, Toilets, Baggage Storage – There will be limited storage within the registration tent Please note for 2024, Newmachar 10k is working towards a sustainable event where we are eliminating the supply of plastic bottles. We would request that all runners be self sufficient with hydration fluids of individual choice. We would ask that you support our event target by bringing your own hydration bottles and supplies to see you round the course. As we learned in 2023 the weather is unpredictable, we will have water available where you can decant into your own bottles and at 2.5k/7.5k point there will be a water stop with recyclable cups. We will also have water for emergency first aid purposes. We thank you for your co-operation.
The full 10k route will be marshaled with sign postings and distance markers along the route. Entries are open to 16 years and over on the day of the race. There will be no specific age categories for this event in terms of prizes.
