Midwinter 18 km Riverside Trail Road Hybrid Race

Great Owl running presents the inaugural Kirkstall Calverley Cutter. An 18km Trail / Road Hybrid Race consisting of approximately 9.5 km riverside path and trail / 4.5 km Canal Towpath / 4 km pavement. The Course starts on the Leeds Liverpool canal but soon meanders off on a loop taking in the sights of the fantastic River Aire, Calverley Cutting and Kirkstall Abbey. Race registration and finish takes place at the award winning Kirkstall Bridge; on finishing all runners receive a delicious pint with their race number (or cider / glass of wine / soft drink) and a cosy warm atmosphere after what will certainly be a very cold January race! Although the route is relatively simple the course will be part marked and marshalled at key areas and all runners will receive a route map / description upon entry. The race will finish back at the Bridge pub and we will administer some kind of gong or bell system, so a mad dash to ring the bell will be part of the fun. Mandatory Gear Route Map (provided) All runners must carry a warm jacket / extra clothing suitable for winter weather Water Container (From January 2019 onwards Great Owl events are going cupless. There will be an aid / refill station at 8km, we’ll bring all the haribo!
