Knaresborough Crag Rat Run 2025

A 5 mile mixed terrain run around the southern fringes of Knaresborough encircling the River Nidd

The race takes its name from the term for a person born in Knaresborough - a Crag Rat. The course is suitable for all ability levels whether affilliated to a running club or not. The route starts at Knaresborough Cricket Club and takes runners along trails descending the crag to a tarmaced section alongside the River Nidd. Mixed terrain leads to a trail through woodland before a fast tarmaced section returns runners to a narrow path adjacent to the river. Crossing the bridge near the Petrifying Well, there is a further riverside section before ascending back up the crag towards the finish line where a medal and a goody bag will be available to the finishers. Approximately half of the race is on tarmac. The normal prizes are supplemented by vouchers for local hospitality venues which want to be associated with the race. This year prizes for the fastest runners are being sponsored by Switalskis Solicitors of Knaresborough with additional prizes kindly donated by The Knaresborough Inn, 6Poor Folk Cafe Bar, Nidd Hall Hotel, The Crown, The Little Way Tearoom and The Half Moon free house. We will be serving tea, coffee and cakes throughout the event for cash donations. All money raised will go to Dementia Forward. An email with up-to-date information on the course and conditions will be sent to all runners shortly after online entries close. Entry on the day is possible for an additional £2. There are no card facilities so please use cash Race numbers with embedded timing chips are issued from 9.30 am on raceday.
