A ROMP ON OLD ROMBALDS MOOR

North Leeds Fell Runners proudly present Rombalds Romp. 13km / 8.1miles with 370m / 1214ft ascent category BM fell race. This is a Fell Race suitable for beginner fell runners. The route is multi-terrain over rough rocky tracks, heathery paths and approximately one mile of road up the back of the moor. The forest section is interesting and adds nice variety but take care as there are, not unnaturally, tree roots which are often slippery when wet. The little wooden bridges in the forest are also often slippery, especially when wet. Note the new clearance on the second section of forest, this path can be a bit tricky with old tree roots. The Fell Race will start and finish on Keighley Road, about half a mile from Race HQ. Getting There & Car Parking Race HQ will located at the finish on Keighley Gate Road (///those.exhaling.saucepan). Please park in the Darwin Gardens car park (approximately 5 min walk from the race start). If you want to enter a postcode into your SatNav, LS29 9JE is the nearest. Please park in this car park; once it is full, use Wells Road and adjoining streets (but show consideration for local residents: we don’t want to antagonise them!) Prize giving & Results There will be prizes for the first 3 men and women. Prizes in the MV40, MV50, MV60, FV40, FV50 & FV60 categories (number of prizes per category will depend on the number of entries). Only 1 prize per runner. The prize giving will be at about 12.30pm at race HQ. MANDATORY KIT This is a FRA race and therefore all runners must carry the following: - WATERPROOF JACKET (with taped seams and integrated attached hood) - WATERPROOF TROUSERS - HAT - GLOVES - COMPASS - WHISTLE Rules may be be relaxed on the day depending on conditions.
