The Vale of York 10 Mile is one of the most popular races over this distance in Yorkshire, and no wonder; it's a fast, flat 10 mile PB waiting to happen (just like our half marathon!). After you land on a runway (i.e. the car park and Race HQ), you take off south around some fast, flat, closed roads in the villages west of York and east of Leeds. And we're also offering a 5 mile race at the same time on the same course (albeit half the distance!). So if you feel 10 miles is too much for you, then come and join us for 5 miles instead. Just as fast, just as flat, just as traffic-free and just as rural! All our medals are wooden. This is for three reasons. First, they are made in the UK, which means we are supporting a local business. Second, most metal medals come from China and by buying local we are removing the environmental impact of the air miles . Third, uncollected medals are more easily recycled than metal ones. You will also get chocolate and water at the finish.
