Your best chance to race a fast, flat, measured road race distance in the Spring

After the phenomenal success of the first ever Big Flat Runway Races, we are delighted to announce a return for 2021. If we can’t plan to run the roads as we might like, our first Elvington event proved that we can race the runways. Five road race distances will be on offer (5K, 10K, 10M, half marathon and marathon) and every race will be chip-timed, officially measured and UKA licensed. There will be no mass starts and so no gun times (unless restrictions no longer apply in wich case we will revert to “normal” race rules). You will be set off in small socially distanced groups at intervals. Your result will be a chip time as currently recommended by UKA. For those who don’t know, Elvington airfield is huge! The runway is over 3km long and there is a huge 19.8 hectares rectangular hardstanding apron for car parking. And that’s why we have chosen it, because there is more than enough open space to allow for social distancing between competitors before, during and after the race. You can run one of four road distances and get your special Big Flat Space Race medal.
