Esholt, West Yorkshire
Starts: 19:30
Distance: 5 Kilometres
Entry Fee: £10.00 - £12.00

Fast 5k course on road through beautiful Yorkshire Water grounds. Perfect for a PB on a spring evening!

The John Carr races are a friendly series of three 5k races, held on the first three Wednesday evenings in May (3rd, 10th and 17th in 2017). The races are held in memory of a former Saltaire Striders member who tragically died aged 30. This year, the race will begin and end at Esholt Hall, a 20 minute walk or 10 minute jog from the Apperley Bridge station end of the Yorkshire Water site. Numbers and chips will be distributed on the night at the race HQ at Esholt Hall. For 2017, the fastest man and woman in each race will be awarded a £50 cash prize. Anybody setting an overall men's or ladies' record time at the end of the race series (compared to 2016, the first year the races were chip timed) will win a further £100.

Prizes will be awarded in all age categories for the race series: results calculated on the total time taken to complete all three races. New for 2017: anybody setting an overall male or female course record at the end of the series, compared to 2016, the first year the course was chip timed, will win a special £100 cash prize. See race 3 page for details of series prizes. A bar of chocolate to all finishers. Enter all three races in advance and you'll also get a free bottle of Saltaire beer after the third race (unless you're under 18, in which case your prize will be non-alcoholic).
